Notes About The Poem

Salt and Pepper

Salt and Pepper

The ocean waves sing their own special song
As Sol arises and birds sing along

Where a sandy beach with seagulls on high
Call to each other in a scarlet sky.

I dream of you in long walks by the sea,
I recall sandcastle's you built for me.

Sweet memories are instilled in my mind
Our history together with ties that bind

Keeps us ever faithful in love's soft hues.
These memories pull me out of the blues.

When tensions are high and pain intercedes
With angry words released to fill our needs,

Yet, a good night's rest and our world seems bright.
Love is that way, and at times we'll fight.

We know our devotion bonds us like glue,
Indissoluble souls, meant to keep true.

Our love lives on in songs of the sea
Where once long ago you proposed to me.

Oh, this touched me, enchanted me and lifted me high on realistic romantic clouds. Really, realistic ones. I love each couplet's gift to the preceding and following couplets that accumulate in a whole and truthful expression of long term love. Excellent writing. Love .. CayCay

Boy your memory is slipping Andrea....you commented on it and we talked about this subject so much. My poem is called "Mandela Effects". I mention the land and stars changing etc. You read so many poems I guess that is why you forgot. : )

It was LAST that I noticed your title. That can be said of me and Joel, too (or our hair. haha). This is a beautiful tribute for this man, who I know can drive you crazy but you love him with all your heart!! Soupmail.

Oh, Connie, your beautiful poem is filled with much truth. Couples do argue, but if they are lucky, the things that brought them together reunite them. I'm sure you don't need wishes to do well in the contest, but I'll be in the cheerleading section when you do. Love, Carolyn
