Salome

Solome danced like someone who danced before the gods
With hungry eyes they watched her every move
Like ruby red wine the audience drank her seductive moves
But at what cost what price we all pay sooner or later
Like a good daughter she obeyed her mother
It happened so fast
Herod gave his word and with a word
No trial no defense just a word death came to
John the Baptist his head on a platter like a prize

She sentenced a man to death with her dance
some do it with words some with a look
Hoping one day to awaken to a sunrise
even if it rains the sun shines beyond the clouds
Somewhere somehow she went searching
Who was John following where did he come from
Where was he going
Disguised by shame she had to find this Jesus

She needed to get closer and the closer she got
Closer she met his eyes his eyes knew but how
His words were the key to her chains
Releasing her spirit she danced again to a new song
On the third day Solome and Mary Magdalene
Went sadly to anoint His lifeless body
Pilate washed his hands of the verdict
The tomb’s door was a large rock
No one man could push away what man tries to hide
But the rock was moved and what was lifeless
What doesn’t happen did happen
He is not here He is risen….
