Sadness Under Anger
There is a lot of hocus pocus when
The out-of-control-child is too upset to focus.
Family struggles.
Divorce.
Grandma’s death.
Mama’s leaving.
Daddy’s anger.
No food in the house.
He is now as frenzied as a colony of angry locusts.
And engages in loads and gobs of crazy hocus pocus.
Trying to fool us with screens of smoke and mirrors,
A wizard’s go-to-trick as he tries to joke us,
Hoping to take his anger away from our focus
So we will not unbury the abject fear he has
That we will discover the wealth of sadness under the spontaneous out-of-control anger
Which he uses to fling us loose from our ability to keep calm, listen to him and
Truly focus on the problems he has been hiding from the world for a long time,
So he will not be taken away from his only remaining parent.
His family has let him know that things could be worse if he talks.
