Ruth Adams

Her destiny Ruth Adams squarely faced, that innocent small child whisked off, white-faced, one day by wild and whooping dark-eyed men, and never more to see again her kin! As over prairie ground fast horses raced, her destiny Ruth Adams squarely faced. No crying would she dare to let them see nor fearfulness. . . not to the least degree! Her courage and her strong will saw her through as year by year, more wise and fair she grew. Her destiny Ruth Adams squarely faced inside that strange new world where she'd been placed. Among the tribe there lived a handsome brave whose passion burned for Ruth. At last, she gave her heart to him . . for life must be embraced! Her destiny Ruth Adams squarely faced

What can one say about this remarkably well written story of many of the young women of the western saga. Congrats on the win. Dan C

This sounds like Ruth could write a book. I think it will do well in the contest. All your verses sound great. Andrea Talking about fiction, the man in my 'remembering when' is not my poor lovely husband:) I am reading a book about a woman whose marriage has been destroyed by drink and when Trisha's song came on the radio the poem just sort of happened. nice to know you worried about me though. smiles and thanks..Margaret

I like this a lot. A very nice tale, Andrea and well written. Thanks for sharing and good luck on the contest. When I find a positive side to things, then I like them, i.e, the rain. Have no fear, I do prefer the sunshine. :) Best wishes, Caroline.

Andrea, this is a remarkable story. It also does not denegrate native americans (yay!). You are perceptive. I am what you say. I celebrate the forces of nature, have a great life and love every second. You and everyone here have been very kind. By the way, the native Americans had a very strong appreciation for nature. They had a sustainable culture.

Even though this is a fictitious person, Andrea, we are reminded of so many many, like her, when our world was not so small, who left home to start their own homes far away! Great entry for the contest. I wish you good luck in Matt's contest. Peace, love, Audrey

Hi, Andrea, I just read your poem “Ruth Adams” for the first time. It was excellent, and my only criticism is that it was too short. I just got into the story, and then it was over. :) You said I’m on the list of community builders. What are community builders exactly? Love, Amy.

If this gets made into a movie, the music should be like that of Dances with Wolves. It has epic potential. Thanks for your comments on my work. To be happy?--maybe it's just trying to stay in the center while forces are always trying to knock us out of center. I don't know. However, if that were true, then blessings of calm and divine tranquility to you and anyone who may read this on their poetic endeavors. I'm just beginning to see poetry in everything. Better late than never :) David
