Ruth
Her bosom, my comfy place
Into her arms I ran, I felt safe
Her bright lipstick kisses
You could never get off your face….
Always a dollar in her purse she wanted to share
As children, we were never fully aware
Grandma (in our minds) would always be there…
She was sweet and caring, delicate and daring
Her words sometimes getting a hold of her tongue
Sometimes her words were harsh and stung…..
Remembering her care, when she took time to
Brush my long tattered hair, even as I grew older
That was a treat; and something I will pass along and share….
Her words of wisdom consisted of
“Mind your P’s and Q’s”
“Good girls don’t kiss and tell”
“Cussing is unbecoming, choose your words well”…
She told us stories of “back in the day”
Over and over in our minds they would stay
Years went by, now always regretting,
Sometimes forgetting to stop and say hi…..
On A warm summer’s day, that is when she passed away
So many memories, in my heart the name Ruth will
Always and forever stay….
