Rusty Old Tin
Like the old rusty tin
On a run down barn
I felt like my time was spent
And I didn’t need to wonder
About fresh ideas
Or new adventures
Time had taken it’s toll
I was living proof
That everything grows old
Like a flower dying down
Losing petals, withering
I felt my heart melting
Into the memories
Of feelings long past
It was such a shock to me
When I met this man
The man of my dreams
And he brought to me
A fresh hope, a new thought
Ideas and inspirations
That I had so often sought
Time had taken it’s toll
But finally I could know
Prayers were being answered
With affirmative replies
And I would eventually die
Happy and alive, thriving
On the inside
With this man by my side
I would blossom like a rose
Promising to flourish and grow
Like the old rusty tin
That sits on that run down barn
I only needed a coat of paint
To show the world that I was
Capable of renewing my wings
Flying again, across the skies
That glitter and flicker
With warm and silent hopes
This amazing and gentle man
Brought to me
A new thought, a fresh approach
The renewal I needed
To dance through this world
With a light that shines so bright
It glimmers love
Into the weary soul
I love this man
And am so thankful
To be holding his hand
Through this life
And on through eternity
