Rubies With a Slice of Diamonds
I’m running
around the world
at not quite the
speed of light
but at the speed
of night running
at the rate that
the world spins
it’s always dark
and oddly lit and
the day never
begins or the
future that I need
or tomorrow
I’m running
around the world
at the speed of the
future that I need
I see the stars
turn ruby red
they shine down
through a window
pane like a slice
of lemon instead
of reflecting ruby
red the day is
nipping at my heels
with tomorrow
I’m running
around the world
like a shadow
racing with the sun
I feel compelled to
run because
no matter
how far I run
I can't find my
way home
