Rose

"A thorn defends the rose, harming only those who would steal the blossom," 
Chinese proverb
-------------------------------------------------
alternate leaves, serrated margin
prickles all along, sickle like hooks
green with envy of blooming flower
stem, peduncle, sepal watch over
breath of gods, sent sample of heaven
