Romantic Encounter With Nature

Happenstance? Or perchance providence Directs my reluctant path. An act of folly or vision To venture out on such a day? The breeze, dank with autumnal chill Sighs through the lonesome woodland trail. Yet whispers of sweet promise Waft gently through the bracing air Perfumed by a daub of sweet violet scent. Dreamy trees, ablaze with autumn's grandeur Are roused from slumber And undressed by the breeze, Releasing flutters of amber, russet and gold To richly quilt the shivering earth. Silken brown jewels of summer's labour Embellish the ground, Their spiny sides split with laughter. Such gifts to the soul, of Wordsworthian simplicity, Leave me enriched By this romantic encounter With nature. 13.02.19 'Eight Word Challenge-Bardenesque Poetry Contest- OBLIGATORY WORDS: happenstance, perchance, folly, dank, whispers, wafting, daub, flutters Sponsored by John Hamilton

What a lovely comment, Kim. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and give kind feedback. This is one of my few free verse poems as I naturally find rhyme so much easier.

Fun twist Wendy, to make the romance be with nature, good details to go along with the required words, enjoyed the read.

Thank you,Geoffrey although I'm not sure that it has the sense of 'romantic' which John was intending.
