Notes About The Poem

Detail: oil painting by Philip Hermogenes Calderon (1833 – 1898)

Romance Scams Are On the Rise

Before Valentines Day
romance scams are on the rise.
Beware of a stranger talking sweet,
invading your cyber world.
Flattery will get you talking,
texting soul secrets and desires.
Phishing is his only business,
and after you are truly hooked
he'll reel in your bank account!

PS: He's really not a sheikh from Dubai!

Its funny but sadly reality. Insane how so many cat fish online, ive watched and seen it happen to many and the way youv delivered this is brilliant one that needs to be talked about more often. On instagram writing community we had some incidents , scammers cat fishing, pretending to be poets, to get them to pay for things etc. was insane. Loved reading this! Powerful and lighthearted one. Especially that “not a sheikh from dubai” hah. Love that

Thank you. The poem was inspired by a report on this morning's TV news.
