Robert Lloyd Sherriff - Solar Flares

Robert Lloyd Sherriff - Australian Poet (Born: 8th July 1954) Solar Flares In the heart of the Northern Territory, Where the sun's fierce arms reach out hungrily, Solar flares, like celestial artistry, Ignite the sky in wild serendipity. Temperatures mimic these solar dances, Fiery spectacles that chance upon glances. Australia, under the sun's powerful grip, Feels the cosmic tug, an invisible whip. Dragged toward the vast expanse of space, Where galaxies swirl in an endless grace. For each grain of sand, a thousand stars gleam, In the heavens, a divine, starlit stream. The red dust storms, with their lingering breath, Twirl with the breeze, a ballet of death. The music of Swan Lake, sweet and profound, Tossed and torn, in stardust, we are bound. The outback’s glory, a sight so profound, Even Mars, with envy, could only astound. Covered in red cake, within just hours, The land tells tales of ancient, charred powers. Charcoal trees lie in rest, a somber sight, Remnants of storms and lightning's fierce bite. Yet, amidst the destruction, life finds a way, Tumbleweed rolls as if in play. The rains descend, bringing life anew, A testament to the cycle, forever true. Plants, animals, and all life in unison bloom, Creating life's bubble, dispersing gloom. Bill Shillinglaw’s words, often he would share, About floods, cyclones, monsoons, the air heavy with God's message, a sign so stark, Awaiting Noah's Ark, in streets now an ark. In Darwin's side streets, a biblical scene, A community watches, on faith so keen. The Northern Territory, with its stories so vast, In the face of nature, humanity is steadfast. Solar flares, reaching through time and space, Touch the Earth with an ethereal grace. In this dance of light, fire, and rain, Lies the beauty of life and its endless chain.
