River Rules

River Rules They strain against the confines of her flow, seeking release, aware of naught but the river’s instinctual calling. The mock applause of clumsy bears slyly spurring them on offering feigned assistance over the cascading roar. Nature’s justification - “survival of the fittest”. 11/15/2016 submitted to – Form – River Line – Poetry Contest sponsor – Rick Parise

I immediately got it. You must have watched a salmon run because it's a perfect description. Thanks for the great images. Beverly

I really love the picture you created in your verses... Oh that cascading river. I can nearly picture the release .the escape from those clumsy bears....and the fight to survive in the river...Awesome...Charma.

Thank you Charmaine, I love getting out on the ponds and rivers in my kayak and becoming a part of the river.

Really nicely done, a picturesque piece that conjures images of a mountain stream with salmon racing against the rushing current with only the force of the water and a large grizzly bear standing in their way. This was great John.

Hey Chris, this is sort of a compilation of The Nature Channel and kayak fishing the Charles River and some local ponds. There is a beauty to floating, almost invisible in silence, on the river.
