Riptide

i know its going to happen
life is going to smoothly
things are alarmingly calm
doubt will seep in
for sure devils will follow
i'll get tongue tied-tripped up- hog tied
washed away in the riptide called life
while the horde dances upon the shore
cackling
"I knew ya didn't have the strength to
make it back"..
but you never walked the contours of my soul
jackass
I've made it back to shore a thousand times before...
and I'll make it back this time
breathing fire on the shores of your dead words
that's if the angels have not deserted me

Marvelous writing, Anthony. Sometimes I think we all feel this way, but we manage to crawl back up onto the shore and proceed on our way. Good!
