Notes About The Poem

Richard D Seal

There once was a man named SEAL
Whose posts made Orchid just squeal
He’d tease and cajole
For he had no soul
But still, he had some appeal

He gave her many a name
Pushed buttons- feeling no shame
She’d give him a slap
That quaint English chap
Their friends just laughed at their game!!!

His posts all brightened her day
He knew just what he should say
He’d make her smile bright
Right after each "fight"
Then chase her worries away

R Seal, here’s looking at you
But first, there's something to do
Come leave me a post
Or you will be toast
I’ll feed you my Orchid brew!

Richard D Seal was once active on the Soup. He gave me the name Desert Orchid, one that I cherish even though it is the name of a RACE HORSE! See what I mean? He'd tease me incessantly...and drive me quite crazy, but I do miss him terribly. You can check his poetry out. He writes beautifully well. Of course...in my opinion, his best piece of writing is about me! Hurricane Eileen- The Storm. You can read it here:

Drop him a line and say you've missed him so he will come back and post his awesome poetry. He's the naughty one of the Richard Pair! ;) Thanks All!

Ha ha ha, talk about glutton for punishment, are you wanting more teasing my little Desert Orchid lol, I'm back-ish. Saw this somstarted here, see i have a lot of teasing to do as you've been prolific in my absence. I'll catch up eventually. Love this write and it's all true lol, even the 'feeling no shame' part lol. Take care, Richard

:) Thanks ever so much, Connie. I do hope that he comes back. I really do miss him. He was such a tease! First he calls me Agony Aunt because, apparently, I dish out advice...then he goes to Desert Orchid, and I call him Mr Seal! Oh well...here's hoping. Hugs

He named you well . . . so many nicknames to capture a wild spirit like you. May your sweet words spark life into the heart of his imagination . . . I will read his works.

Yes, I love terms of endearment, David. I see you didn't add yours for me in your post! :( A wild spirit, eh? I can be docile...but it so much more fun to be wild! Thanks for the visit, my dear. I don't know if these words will. This is a repost. I wrote some time back. I just tweaked it a bit. Thanks for the visit.

Dear Eileen, here is my comment in a Limerick form: Friend of Eileen, whose name is that of Seal/ Beg you to come back with her to deal/ For your presence misses much/ For your thought her to touch / Otherwise she will lose her very zeal!

My dearest, thank you for liking my poem. Yes, I am able to write in different forms but I have chosen the Epigram style for it fits my academic training in philosophy. Your poem is a fine one and is a credit to you for honoring your friends!

WOW! Lovely, my dear poet. It's nice to see you write in different forms! :) This is a very pleasant poem. Thank you for the visit and comment...I don't have hope to see him again here, but....this is a lovely poem, is it not? Remember when I called in to Drake's show and read the poem I had written for you? A Greek among the Greeks...DEMETRIOS! :) Well, here you are writing humorous write. Filakia to you. Hope your rhyme is heard!

I know, Right? That sort of stole the glamour of the name when I found that piece of information out. apparently the horse was a winner, so....whatever! ;) Appassionata thanks you for your visit, Paul. :) Terms of endearment are so sweet. Hope all is well. HUGS

This made me chuckle especially at Desert Orchid - I hope your friend does come back - it is so sad when people disappear from the site and this is a lovely tribute. Good luck in the contest:-) hugs jan x

I think so too, Jan. It is a repost. I'd posted it when he was still here and if you like....You can search for the original write and read the banter between us. Very Brit....Brit humor. You know all about that! ;) Love the Brits! :) Got family living there.....Anyways, I don't have hope, but I thought it's a good idea for the contest. Take care, dear. Hugs
