Reverse Gestation
Cold, a killing cold
is the best defense against aliens.
And viruses, bacteria are our friends.
Perfect rest, perfect motion.
Another autumn, another election.
So aimless and sublime.
Back and forth, forth and back.
Rock and roll, spoon and bowl.
Jove is so damn jovial!
Summer morning, rabbit in my garden.
Let it be or send a warning.
Let the rabbit eat my peas.
When a coffin starts walking and talking
and directing traffic—when there's a dragon
in your supermarket aisle—
Few things are more infuriating
than being addressed as Sir
when police threaten or use force.
Your call is important to us
repeated repeatedly while bad music
distracts from the first snowfall or blackbird calling.
God bless America gets me, too
and Thank you for your service
We’re sorry for your loss—the less said the better.
A blank page, mirror of my day—time unopened.
A lightning strike so loud
I rolled out of bed and praised the lord.
