Reverie
REVERIE
I am at sea
That’s inevitable at the moment
Sitting on a bench
Alone, alone, all alone
I hardly know the place
A park it would be
I ponder over this make-believe world
Yonder comes a grey-headed
Old fellow, shivering
He, I think is a genius
In that province of profound silence
He says a few words to me
In a slow but steady voice,
“All the world is a stage
And thou art an actor”.
Anon disappears my confusion
But those words are striking often
And my mother wakes me up
Standing beside my bed
It’s nothing but a reverie.
