Resolution Soup

No sneers from me No spite for thee No malice for you Bonhomie on view No fight day or night Hmmm… That’s about right The moral of this That ought to be told Is serve your soup warm Neither too hot… Nor cold * [This was written for Milton’s ‘5 New Year resolutions’ contest, but I felt it didn’t quite fit the remit. Wasn’t going to post it, but in light Of Soup’s communique re bullying, I felt it held Some water.]

Well, thankyou, Rico. Funny how I saw this as a fairly insignificant ditty that I only posted when the bullying it alluded to came to a head. Seems to have struck a chord. Thanks for the fave and the recommendations. Very much appreciated. Terry

Thanks, Ilene. I fear that my few words will have fully zero influence. Maybe we’ll get a Christmas miracle. Terry

Strangely, not written in response to the Soup message. (Obviously was influenced by previous posts though). Unfortunately, I’m not convinced that Soup’s post will change many attitudes… shame. Thanks, Tom. Terry

Worth posting, absolutely, Terry. Until everyone vows to clean up the soup, we're going to have a stew! Your illustriously awesome poem tells us how it should be...and I agree wholeheartedly. Effective today, I'm not going to try to read every poem every day...just going to block out some people I don't need in my life or cluttering my mind!

LOL! My dear friend, Terry, I mean "little" in the sense that it isn't one hundred fifty-syllable lines! It was not meant to be derogatory in any sense! I will revise and choose another adjective. Oh, as of today, I am stopping reading all the poems, for reasons. I'm pretty much a speed reader, Terry, and I'm on Poetry Soup anywhere between 8 and 10 hours every day. Pure stupidity with lots of time on my hands! Love your work, man...uh, I'm sorry...love your poetry, man!

I’m astounded that you managed to read every poem, I couldn’t manage it. Often, it’s read or write, occasionally a little of each. So a hearty pat on the back for your efforts. Oh, and thanks so much for referring to my magnificent write as ‘my little poem’ you CENSORED CENSORED ;-)

Funny, Jan. I’d decided a couple of days back that this really wasn’t right for Milt’s contest. When the blog came through on my email, I briefly thought I’d been reported. Anyhow, I thought I’d rescue the poem from its little dark room as it seemed to fit the occasion. Not sure I know ‘The Boxer’, probably will when I Google it. Glad you enjoyed. Terry
