Science is what we believe to know while philosophy is what we would love to know!* © Demetrios Trifiatis 09 May 2017 *With all due respect to Bertrand Russell I disagree with his statement: " Science is what we know and philosophy is what we do not Know." We only have to think of Ptolemy's Geocentric system that was science for thirteen centuries till Copernicus came along to prove it a myth!

I was really surprised that Russell was unknown for he was a renown philosopher and a man of peace. He is the one who has designed the sign of peace! Thank you dearest Maria for your precious visit!

Just read a comment that showed we may have both toyed with writing theses on Bertrand Russell's philosophy. How paths intersect ... but you are our resident philosopher who has a gift to make it all easy to grasp. Thanks Demetrios Esteemed Brother (Flavius Josephus II? or Pliny?)

More, more! Irony: Russell was an ardent lover of peace, but atheistic. This is spot on DT - Even Descartes hedged his bets on INTUITION vs. DEDUCTION. However, knowledge itself is traced to "scientia" whereas other three meanings include "cognitio" (Biblical wisdom?), "ratio," (logical) and "doctrina." Keep on stimulating - beautifully summarizing - these deabtes. SEVENs any day. Shalom

Yes, my esteemed academic brother he was! The fact he was an atheist made me not to do my Ph. D on his philosphy but chose Heraclitus instea! Thank you so much!

Nicely written my friend. I am not sure who Bertrand Russell is and was not familiar with his quote prior to reading this, but you did a great job answering his thoughts

Bertrand Russel my friend, was a well-known philosopher and mathematician that has worked for peace as well! He died in 1972! Once I wished to write my thesis on his philosophy but finally I chose Heraclitus instead! Thank you for your visit and lovely comment!
