Remember The Picnics

Remember the picnics 
            one day they’ll be gone
                            with only a memory to blanket the green

For warm summer days 
           are not meant to remain
                  we feast them away with the wine of our youth

Remember the picnics 
             when winter blows in
                     when ice cycles forecast the cold days ahead

It’s then that we need them 
           through every last sigh
                    to hold once again in the bloom of our hearts

Picnics seem like the thing of the past not completely but people picnic less l believe. Your wonderful poem took me back to my picnic days…..hot tea out a flask, sandwiches, strawberries and always a treaty or two! Lovely memories….thankyou! Debx

We should savor every moment in life. Undertake many picnics in favorable times, so that we can relish their memories when winter comes into our lives and we are no more able to see and enjoy what's around. Beautifully written dear Mike.
