Remains...

The sun blazed through my window This morning At about a quarter to seven I awoke from my memories Of the night before Somewhere between heaven and heaven Sleepy eyed I find our daughter Still fast asleep and doing just fine I take this chance To venture into the living room Where I find your glass nestled next to mine It has been idling over night Wondering What it should do But like our lives It waits patiently for the next time So is the love between me and you Reminders of you Lay scattered Trying to hold on to everything gone past I echoe their feelings And delay tidying up Wanting everything to last I want them to stay there I want your presence to busy itself In our lives for as long as time will buy I wonder if it is just me And my inability To wave last night goodbye So I rest amongst them With my fresh morning coffee Bringing my sleepy eyes to a careful view Looking around and at myself There isn't apart of me That's not there with you...

Very compelling poem, Jo! Waking up and seeing the glass from the night before..."Wanting everything to last." Excellent writing! Love, Carolyn
