Relentless Heat
When the air feels thick and humid,
clouds coalesce in shades of gray.
And a dullness blunts the sun's edge,
unable to cut through the fray.
A gloomy mood paints your day blue
with a blah melancholy brush.
And you start to squirm and fidget,
suppressing any thought to rush.
You lounge around miserable,
with your face frozen in a frown.
And laziness soon settles in
as perspiration dribbles down.
Suffocating and exhausting,
the air feels tactile and sticky.
And the sweltering atmosphere
makes merely breathing seem tricky.
Even hours after the sun sets,
the relentless heat won't give in.
And you feel uncomfortable,
for there's no way to cool your skin.
