Release the Doves
Who would draw the curtain, shield their eyes
and ask the question: "Why? Oh why the whys?"
extend an empty hand, a beggar's jest
forgive the sins of those not yet confessed?
Where will the gavel fall if justice fails
to curb the creeping grasp of men with tails
to thwart the ego'd rise of anarchists
who claim to be alone in twisted trysts?
For all lay claim to truth and unity
yet seek - for bloodied swords - immunity
obliterate the past and start anew
cancel the debts - oh so long - overdue.
Release the doves, throw down your hates and cease
the vitriol of flames that torch all peace.
