Relapse

Across the millennia, discussing the lapse: infra or sub or supra, perhaps? A logical ordering somewhat rehearsed… Did God have to wait or work it out first? Is He sin’s author? His decree permissive? Certainly don’t mean to be dismissive… A no to the first, the next, some degree, 'tis mostly man’s pride declaring self free. These sequenced events would seem ‘gainst His nature; He knew and it was in my nomenclature.

Evil is our greatest test. That's all... But mostly it's within us. If we fight it actively, if we root it out, we take care of the Putins and the Hitlers much more easily. Sound simple?! I don't think it's rocket science, truth be told. ~ ISP -- I Solve Problems! lol.

I believe the serpent created himself in that he wanted what only God deserves. He was among God's creation as a spirit creature but made a choice as did Adam and Eve.Can tell you are in a contemplative mood Jeff. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It's very difficult to explain away the presence of evil and sin so early in the creation story. Who created the serpent? Or, do we have Dualism? Is the basic question: Which God do you belong to?

Cool about your thesis! The problem of evil and theodicy have certainly been central to the argument against/for the Christian God! I recalled you mentioning deism as your view, I only referenced dualism due to the comment below. And you are a humble man, as am I with regards to all of this - we have many, many questions between us, I am sure of it!

Interesting to me since my doctoral thesis was on this very subject: "The Problem of Evil in the Judeo-Christian Tradition." Actually, I am a Deist, when it comes right down to it...not a Dualist, but I have unanswered questions, and I can hardly wait to find out the truth! Incidentally, the presence of pure evil does not diminish the glory of God (pure Good, if you please), in my humble opinion.

I've never been a big fan of dualism - it creates a god unworthy of worship, imho, and passages in the bible would appear to refute dualism in that God says his purposes are not thwarted, but I think this is all great stuff to be thinking about, more so than woman-owned green beans! :-)

I've always associated the serpent with Lucifer/Satan due to Genesis 3:15 and the reference to what many say is the first mention of the good news. In the creation sequence, angels could/would have been created first, Lucifer and his minions rebel and are cast to earth, and then God creates Man, knowing the snake/deceiver will be in the garden.

Wanted to comment on your comments last question. There is no riding the fence on this one,we serve one of the other either by choice or default. If we are not molded by the great potter God we will be molded by the other and his flawed influence and direction to all fleshly desires.
