Reflections
Far from urban chaos, plastic and Styrofoam
The stream tumbles as it has for untold years
Trout swim with joy in their pristine home
Clear water, falling from those virgin tears
This is the land of Hiawatha, with mountains grand
The deltas of the Nile; home of desert nomads free
The place of whales, the wonder of Van Dieman's land
Lands that twist and turn and bring forth poetry
Yet, reflected in the blue that seeps between our fingers
We see the utter magnificence that man has wrought
Wonders that leave us with an awe that lingers
Conquering many secrets that for so long we sought
Sip the water once again ; in its taste rejoice
And remember, we are tomorrow's only voice
For Carolyn's contest.
