Reflections

Reflections Sunlight mirrors off the water, as waves peek and crash, rolling onto the sand. Warm moist pebbles crunch between my toes as I slowly walk along the coastline taking in God’s beauty. Troubles are being washed from my consciousness as the tide is beckoned back to the Mother Sea. I feel the pull of God taking me from my daily existence into his majestic presence and filling by inner being with unsurpassed peace and joy. Pain, doubt, disappointment and despair evaporate and I enjoy his perfect shells, all shapes and colors waiting for me to pick up and inspect. Sea Gulls circle above me as the pelican’s dive for their meal, entertaining me with their grace and agility. Dolphins occasionally appear and remind me that life is abundant and our God is mighty. I watch sandcastles painstakingly being built by small hands only to be swept away. Reminding me that material things are insignificant and easily snatched from us. Love, truth, faith and honor stand firm and I remind myself that the wise are grounded in them. If I had only myself to care for, I would plant myself by the sea. I would probably be considered an eccentric old woman, but I would never tire of drinking in the setting. At night the sky is black, with a million stars lighting your path. You can hear the gentle rushing of the tide, as sweet music to the soul. At dusk a myriad of colors paint the heavens and you can watch the sun banish behind the sea, only to return at dawn. Such beauty could only come from God. B.J. CUBER
