Red Moon

How glorious it must have been our ancestor's thinking it the end giving homages and priestly prayers joyfully they dance and sing praises For us over here only a silvery full moon something to do with angles of reflection meant we missed this amazing event lost it was in the distance by many miles Yet I can perfectly picture this red moon as it towers up high lighting all with strange light blood orange red with streaks of purple running on its surface criss crossing written 04/24/2014 contest Red Moon

Hi Shadow, I'm sorry you only saw the silver moon because the red one was quite a treat in North America. Love the way you describe the fears of our ancestors who beheld such sites as a sinister omen. And, yes, whether you could see it or not, had only to do with "angles of reflection." Maybe you'll see the next one. More are coming! Congratulations! Love, Carolyn

Good one, Shadow, although our ancestors were probably more likely to practice a little human sacrifice if they thought it was the end. Good luck in the contest!

I saw the full moon change to a crescent, but I did not see it turn red. It was about 3 a.m. and I couldn't stay awake any longer! The way you described this so beautifully, I can see it just perfectly. Great work, Shadow! Good luck in Dave's contest! :)

Thankfully we can experience it by reading your poem. It was cloudy here so no luck in this part of the world.

great descriptiveness in your poem, Shadow. You did not see it either? I went outside and walked all around my house looking up at the sky. I didn't see a dang thing. Not even a white moon!! I was so disappointed!!
