Red Flags

Red flags flying o'er the beach, Warning of danger beneath gulf waves; A seagull glides by with a screech. Red flags flying o'er the beach, Riptides pull you out of reach, And lifeguards cannot always save. Red flags flying o'er the beach, Warning of danger beneath gulf waves. 8/14/19

I am thinking "sharks" but do red flags mean other things?

This flows so well, Kim! Maybe it's prelude to your next one --- about the sharks off of Cape Cod. :) gw

So true; too often we disregard the Red Flags in life, thinking we can ignore danger beneath the surface, knowing in time all will surface, far worse, if not dutifully attended. Great writing!

My son Shawn surfs off of Encinitas and lives in Carlsbad. He is on Facebook and sends me a picture of the surf everyday on it. A ledge caved in and killed three local residents. Sad.
