Red Door

"Red Door"

love opens not
like a red rose,
it caresses you
slowly,
entices you in
holds you
hard and fast,
like a scarlet poppy
opium sweet
inviting, promising
till death do us part,
the elusive everlasting

Euphoric,
intoxicated
as you like it,
as in an Arden dream,
viola tricola potion
dropped softly
sensuously
on seductive eyelids
love-in-idleness
that elixir of l'amour,
Oberon love flies in
mid-summer,
we dance with romance
in the labyrinth’s garden
like a bird caught in a cage
tamed and entranced

L'amour ! L'amour ! L'amour ! L'amour !

The red door is opened
love flies in, then,
the gate is closed;
in such sumptuous
sanctuary
we lay down with love
caught in the dream
‘twould seem,
forever naked
exposed to its fatal charm,
holding on tight
for more, like a drug,
love insatiable
insatiable love

L'amour ! L'amour ! L'amour ! L'amour !

We open the door
love flies in, love’s here to stay;

We open the door
love flies away

Butterfly's are free to fly, LL. Maybe that's why the divorce rates in some countries are close to or over 50%. "But freedom is just another word for nothin' left to lose" ~Janis Joplin Congratulations on POTD! Hope you and your daughter are doing well. Hugs Charlie x

Thanks Charles. A happy belated Valentines Day to you. Trust you are flying high in the love realms. Everything you say makes perfect sense to me. You go through quite a lot up to a certain age, people come and go, you acquire ‘things’ in a life, you lose people, you lose things, you lose homes, you lose dignity, trust, respect, love comes, love goes. Then your health becomes a priority, along with your sanity and the days you have left become shorter. You come to the conclusion (well, I have come to the conclusion), that “Love is All that Matters” in the long run. If you have that for yourself to start, and if you’ve lost it and are able to retrieve it, then there is hope, that Love will win the day.

Then, after all that, if you have any concept of what ‘living’ is all about, and surviving what has all gone on before, then you release all that $hit right? What has one got to lose? Except life itself. Some people choose life, others take the easier option. As for my beloved daughter, as long as she is safe, happy, healthy and has a roof over her head and food to eat, friends, and "Love", and love, trust and respect for and in herself...then I am happy for her. At the end of the day, “Love is All that Matters”. Sometimes Home is not a place, it’s a person. Overall Home starts with yourself.

As for the importance of “Valentines Day”. I cannot speak for a man, but I can for a woman/girl. I read this the other night, and it strikes a chord. “Stop teaching girls their wedding day will be the most important day of their lives. You are raising entire generations of women, focusing on which dress, venue, designer etc, but you forget to teach them what to value in relationships, build a marriage – or even walk out, if need be.”

Obviously the most important Valentine is ourselves. The most important day of our lives is being born, then for me, producing a child. My daughter is my Valentine for life. Lucky girl. ;) When one thinks about it long and hard, Love is all you want at the end of the day, and when you shuffle off this mortal coil, you can't take people and things with you, but you can carry Love with you.

Merci. here's the mantra, "I'm not searching for my other half, because I'm not a half", but it's entertaining to contemplate applications.

An Astounding write! Love--dark sluggish cumulus clouds pregnant with an impending storm. To paraphrase Louie XV, Apres amur, le deluge. Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight--Paul McCartney

Love is a foregone conclusion, it is embedded, there is no erasure, just the required recalling. The other side of the kiss, Romance fades fast. “Late at night when the wind is still I'll come flying through your door And you'll know what love is for ...” let them eat cake, Red Velvet and butter icing that melts for the guillotine.

Merci. L'oiseau bleu.

Merci Madama McCann. You got that right. lol. The English translation to Bizet's "Habanera" (Opera: Carmen), below. I discovered in the process the opera taken from a Novella by French writer Prosper Merimee by the same title (which I shall now endeavour to read, link below for anyone else who is interested).
