Notes About The Poem
Daniel's Wake Me Up When September Ends Contest ~ August 25, 2026

Rebellion Led to Her Disgrace DHR
It was late September when she refused to confess
No redemption given the fallen Angel for her sins
Silken ebon wings will soar no more to Heaven's realm
Unrepentant, her heart has ever been and remains
Immortality was lost by lusting at her heart's betrayal
for its yearning temptation that led to her disgrace
Sentenced to roam the Earth beneath clouded skies
A defiant expression, swearing she'd never confess
Rebellious as the demon, the original father of lies
Now, she wanders alone in doldrums as if in an abyss
No spark of life around her, only silence everywhere
but not a single tear has she seemed want to shed
Her conscience may never rouse to signal her mistake
after tumbling from the grace and mercy of God
Into Hell's realm she has been tossed for offending
the Creator of all things to whom she'll not confess
On an unrighteous path she now chooses to plod
crossing the threshold of sacredness into the known
There's no escape she can accomplish through death
Crows hover and caw in evil voice but 'tis all in vain
She curses her plight without regret in every breath
This fallen angel, who foolishly made a wicked choice
Shadows shall fill the gloom until she agrees to confess
They cast a pall as if a shroud of pitch is what she wears
Celestial beauty forsaken, her transformation begins
for in reputed shame is where she is forced to reside
To wake from stygian regions, she will have to confess
her wrongdoings with a penitent heart to be forgiven
and pray that upon waves of flowing and ebbing tides
her voice He will hear and allow her to rise once more
Ever left in the cold, she walks without love in the fold
unable to quench her thirst and hunger for relief
She will mourn and grieve without the means to mend
As if Satan's spawn, she's entombed in insurrection
Her whispers are only heard by ghosts in tragic reveries
Feathers fall like Autumn leaves, for she will not confess
This foolish fallen angel, rebelliously lost her immortality
Crossed the sacred threshold, surrendering angelic rights
Shamed in stygian shadows, adamantly refuses to confess
