Realness of Things

Not every eyes closed is asleep, Not every vast sea is as deep Believe not everything your eyes see The realness of most things is not as it seems Not every beautiful thing is good Not everything cooked is food Attractive things may be a cloaked peril And a delicious meal may be a poison to kill Not every gathered cloud augurs a rainfall And not every dark heaven augurs nightfall Do not act holding unto what you see A grass-carpeted land may actually be a deep Not every lie can kill, Not every truth can heal What you hear may be to save you Lest you fall into a hot soup A man could be a vampire A fiery mere could be a campfire Believe not all your eyes see The realness of most things is not as it seem
