Realization of Monkeys
rocking gently on the shocking blue waves
noisily tugging away to a larger boat
the island looks over my shoulder
sand white hot sand rippling tides
waves of despair rise over me
above the waving of green trees
monkeys are their spots of brown
sprinkled laughing after me
dad tells about the trail
side winding up the hill
where he saw what I wanted to see
too busy in the sand to care
looking back alone they fade
only to find another
realization
oh too late
that there were more like me
