Remember when you first learned how to read
That youthful hunger, only books could feed
How confidence was gained along with speed
And knowledge was the essence of our greed
Some nights while reading, how you'd beg and plead
At bedtime, mom or dad would intercede
When on occasion, tears would supercede
A chapter's end, they'd lovingly concede
Now looking back, those books helped us succeed
These days still cracking books to fill that need
Each book we read, another planted seed
Another dream, imagination freed
