Raining in Summer Poetry Contest
Sponsor- Ink Empress
Outside it has started to rain
Sitting in my porch I watch,
The elements mix and mingle
Kneading the pulverized dust
The drizzle has gained a sudden might
And now it rains cats and dogs
I hear the blowing wind’s violent howl
This is summer rain, so unpredictable is its course
I hear the rumble of thunder in rhythmic roll
Watch trees casting leaves in the wind
Specters of brown and yellow spiraling down
And flown hither and thither
Rain water sinks fast into the mud
Promising new sprouts of green
Sieving deeper into my mind
Reviving faded dreams!
I watch the race of truant clouds
And how they collide on their track
Breeding florescent light and rumbling sound
Like a small firework in the sky
I hear the rain all around
Hold it in my palm
Feel the thrill of the first firm grip of my love
And my senses aglow with a soothing calm
The droplets have once again begun falling thick and heavy
They hit hard on the parched earth
Lightning sends chills down my spine
Darkness grows as if the day is dying out
Fun to watch these raindrops flop and break
Over boulders and flow downwards
Raising the scent of roasted earth
Mixing with the smell of fresh Jasmine

As I kept looking on, the rain grew weak
And its rattle got suddenly stilled,
Like a blasting music abruptly stopped
Making the hall silent and leaving waves of thrill!
The sky that peered through veils of grey,
Beamed and brightened once again,
With all its aches washed away,
In the purging tears of crystal drops!
