Rainbow Rain
Raindrops dribble across dusty windows
muting daylight, lazily sliding, meeting, melding,
creating a new, single drop.
Although merged, size is not appreciably increased
as parts of mass are left behind, forming a road to nowhere.
A dreary occurrence?
Rain gives us pause to appreciate sunlight,
bringing cleansing to small and vast areas.
Disorder is diluted
as rain replenishes stores of nutrients
to growing matter.
When daily bruising dulls spirits,
a rainbow delights us,
catching, supporting, and reflecting flashes
of returning sunlight.
We’re reminded of the fixed order
that does not change
as we see light broken into prisms
of dancing colors
