Sweet petrichor, you rise like a phoenix from the moist lush green vegetation, filling my nostrils with your earthy essence. Tell me, is it any wonder that the sky cries? Peering down at the earth’s destruction she sobs bitterly. Her torrent of tears causes rivers to burst their banks, houses built on flood plains are in peril from a deluge of water. It is the greed of man who ruins our earth Changing the natural course of rivers, constructing houses in areas of coastal erosion, destroying our rain forests for filthy lucre. Is it any wonder that the sky cries? Peering down at the earth’s destruction she sobs bitterly. Rain Contest Sponsored Eve Roper 06~08~16

Congrats, Jan. :-) P.S. I'm sure you don't want to abandon modern technology and return to the trees. If the world were a Shangri-La, would the rain never fall?

Jan: I had just received notice from Soup of some special works. I looked for your name and of course there it was. I'm glad I was directed to it. It was very heart rendering. Our city went through such a flood just about 8 years ago. Now they are trying to fix what man had broken to cause the mess. Thanks for the great reminder of Natures Tears. oldbuck

This was very cleverly succinctly done with the depiction of the skies crying for all the terrible things we've done. With poems such as this, is it any wonder we keep coming back for more of The Jan?

This is exactly how our place looked after the flood we experienced in December:( "Changing the natural course of rivers, constructing houses in areas of coastal erosion," - just the right reasons for such disasters and they call it 'natural'!!!
