A smart person knows what to say ~
A wise person knows whether or not to say it.
In youth I thought I was shrewd, a defender,
with grandiose ideas, a panacea for incivility
for a world stricken with an illness called greed.
No one listened to me; a self-proclaimed healer.
With age, I became aware of a basic human flaw.
My attitude made me believe I was a sage.
Wisdom came ...
in realizing a greater power than I has the cure,
in knowing that the world could change ME...
and in me never allowing that to happen.

"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise, so I am changing myself."
