Quiet Time
My sunroom opens wide in three directions.
I feel as though I am in the midst of nature
in all seasons of the year, but I am enclosed
safely in my little quiet room. In the spring
I can see far to the south and east, many
acres of tulips or daffodils to inspire me.
To the west I see my neighbors fields which
may be any of varied crops. As the crops grow and
mature, I see the changing of the seasons.
Summer was late in coming this year.
----------------------------
Cheated Summer
Laughing September entering
Dressed in her bright array.
Startled Summer calls on friend Sun
To keep Autumn away.
Summer had waited for slow Spring
To take leisurely leave.
With Fall demanding his full due,
Thieved time she can’t retrieve.
