Quandary

Trisha rubbed her eyes in disbelief... "Was that real?" "Isn't that Aarav?"... "And who is that girl seen with him..?" She peeked carefully from behind the tall dense bamboo trees in the park. The bamboo trees swayed gently in the soft breeze in the early winter evening. Trisha peeped again to take a second glance and was terrified at the scene she saw....from behind.. "Oh my gosh!... am sure it is him... Aarav... and they are so intimate.. " At the park bench, Aarav was seen sitting close to a girl...they were sitting with arms around each other and were seen totally smitten with each other... Trisha swallowed a lump in her throat as her little sister's sweet innocent face popped up in her mind now.. "Oh... Charu is so naive and gullible to believe Aarav so blindly... a fool for love... " Those disturbing verbal exchanges that she had with her sister last week flashed across her mind "If.... you all don't let me marry Aarav... I... I... I'll commit suicide... " Charu's words in her extreme anguish over the disapproval of her relationship with Aarav by the family echoed in her mind... And she knew Charu meant what she said! She also knew Charu was so madly in love with Aarav The golden orb of the sun was now silently descending... So many questions cropped up in Trisha's mind as she walked back from the park through the gloomy pathway towards home on that late winter evening What shall I do now?" "Should I talk to Charu first... or Aarav?" "Or should I first let parents know all these..?" The stilly night accompanied her as she was nearing home even as her mind was deeply disturbed and disquieted.. "What will I do now..?" A struggle of conscience from a loving, well meaning sister well defined Ani and spoken from the assumptions we all make about another person's reactions. Well done and congratulations. Sending you blessings.

A truly thoughtful poem on Quandary. Makes me ponder about many decisions I made in life - but about myself. Making decisions about others might be even more perplexing! I totally understand your point of view about relationships and responsibilities. Brilliant poem, Anitha. Love and hugs ~ Mala
