Pussycat
He wanted to kill his pussycat
After it ate up his beloved rat.
Took it to the river,
Threw it, turned to leave her
Then suddenly had a change of heart.
He dove right in to save the poor thing.
Never minding he knew not to swim.
The pussy swam away
To the safety of bay.
Drowning, the young man started to scream.
How he got out, only he can tell,
Dripping and scared, like he was in hell.
Started the long walk home,
Lonely, if truth be told,
With a terrible sea-water smell.
Hating his cat, and hating himself,
He entered his house, just around ten,
To see his pussycat
Settled on his brimmed hat,
Tending with care to its stressed out legs..
