Purple Paper Butterflies
…for Brenda
I found these purple butterflies
with fragile paper wings
and bought them to remind you
of some very special things.
Things like how the butterflies
are out there to remind you
who you were and yesterday
are somewhere far behind you.
Reminders change is possible
no matter when or why.
It’s in our coat of courage,
we find our wings to fly.
To not forget we’re fragile
and can easily be broken,
sometimes when the simplest
of words are harshly spoken.
That everything can change
in just a fluttering of wings,
so never take for granted
any happiness life brings.
Lastly, there’s that little thing,
the precious gift of time
How each day is a blessing…
why waste the life that’s mine?
I know you love the butterflies
for all these reasons true.
May purple paper butterflies
bring joy and peace to you.
Your Loving Sister,
Jeannie
