Purple Cemetery

I write so many poems that you don’t see
They end up in purple poem cemetery
Mangled in the **** of my maroon mind
Tangerine tangles of wasted time

Violet vines of not good enough
Tall teal trees of unreturned love
Winged words white like albino leaves
Falling to their death from teal tree

Falling for you’re deaf to my poet tree
Bass treble cleft left in green cerebral dream
Unsung songs unmade love
Sing a longs gone wrong
Made in maroon lust

But somehow I manage to hold on to it
Maybe it will be reborn as a chocolate kiss
of rainbow reflection of historical views
Of future endeavors red spice unused.

The colors create clear imagery here and the assonance helps with the poem's flow, too.

This is such a wonderful poem. Don't worry... All buds are not expected to bloom. Even if some wither away before blossoming, if there are a handful of roses of beauty and fragrance, they can make a beautiful bouquet. Those that die, bury them in the cemetery. Congratulations on your great win, dear Karen.

Wow, KJ ! You’ve gone to town with colour here ! I love it. The title is catchy & definitely the cemetery will rebirth chocolate kisses. Don’t you worry ~ your humour, endurance and strong hope will pay off. Congrats on placement in Rob’s Contest. High vibes to you in Spring. Pouring unending rain upon rain down here. Xx.

Thank you so much Ghairo! We need rain desperately here! Bracing for the forest fires and later high produce due to lack of rain.

Dear Karen, your imagery is awesome and captures the essence of the practice of creative writing where some creations are slow to bloom into poetic fruition. Some poems I thought long dead suddenly arise from my Google doc ashes like a phoenix lol! Loved your vivid expression here. Congratulations for your success in Rob’s contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I enjoyed reading your poem Caren. Seeing the title, I thought it was about visiting a cemetery, never knew that it was a cemetery where your dead poems are buried.... ! But remember, they can resurrect back to life in flesh and blood any time. Congratulations on your POTD which I sadly missed.

Congratulations Karen Jones on your compelling POTD! Cemeteries, buried poems, only a real muse would give you this, a poem like this. Poems shouldn't be tossed, it's what I tell my mentor, over and over and yet he insists it's how he works. Who am I to stop you wonderous poets? Xoxo Anaya

When the time is right, words appear and take center stage, until that moment- they like to hibernate. (I know mine do, and that's perfectly okay.) Many poems bloom for all to see, while others stay hidden and close to the heart. Congratulations Karen, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy
