Notes About The Poem

This is actually version 2 of this song to enable its use in Soup

and (if some minor miracle were to occur) on the radio (I'm not holding my breath).

It's a major revamp of one of my previous poems.

Hope you enjoy..... COS IT'S TAKEN WEEKS TO GET IT JUST RIGHT.

As always....... Lyrics are human, ie - me

Music, Vocals and Audience are all Robotic (AI)

Listen to poem:

Pull The Other One - No Sheep Version

Millionaire, Bartholomew Fairfax
Admitted today, he ‘FORGOT’ to pay his tax

[Chorus]
Goodness gracious; well I never
Knock me over with a feather
Who’d have thought it
Pull the other one

And this comes from his latest press release
The Young lady on his arm was ‘NOT’ his niece

[Chorus]
You’re kidding; no way;
No Sheep Sherlock; you don’t say;
Tell me something I don’t know;
Shut the front door; I’ll be blowed

[Jamming session]
(She) Okay, Lads… what bright spark wrote “No SHEEP Sherlock”.
(He) Sorry Darlin’ had to be done for the radio…
(He) So as we don't shock the kiddies
(She) But SHEEP!…… this crowd’s gonna laugh us off stage!
(He) Well we didn’t have no choice, cos radio won’t say [Beep]
(She) You do know they can hear us… right?
(He) Then we’d better give em some more of what they came for
(She)   Sounds good to me!
(He)    Come on!!! a one, a two… a one, two, three, four……
…
His jewel bedecked wife in her large golden carriage
Is backing HER man for the sake of their marriage

[Chorus]
Who’d have guessed it;  Gosh; who knew;
Crikey; Get away with you;
Well I’m gobsmacked;
But I was not born yestaday

The film star sex offender… and perhaps I’m just a cynic
Has booked himself, pre-trial, into a plush sex addicts clinic

[Chorus]
Blimey; Holy Moly; Strewth;
A pig just flew above my roof;
So, who’d have thunk it; pinch me, quick;
And tell me…… is it ‘ME’ that’s thick?

Still to come in The News tonight
Two youths in a pub have been in a fight
And the final result in formula one...
The man in the fastest car has won

[Chorus]
Goodness gracious; well I never
Knock me over with a feather
Who’d have thought it
Pull the other one

“That’s it ‘Guvvna’…… YANK me chain….”
“It’s got bells on~“

“Thanks for coming guys and girls…
And… goodnight!”

I can see and appreciate why it took so long to get it up to your high standard…. It’s far beyond great. Good to read Annie is better!

Thanks, Tom. Don’t know about ‘a roll’, Tom. More of an uphill slog. This one insisted on she singing his bits and he singing her bits. Finally got them to do my bidding and then noticed she was pronouncing ‘laugh’ as ‘laff’ (American) rather than ‘larf’ (British). Fixed that and finally after who knows how many re-generations and tweaks, came up with this. Guess I shouldn’t say so myself… but I love the result so it was all worthwhile in the end. Annie’s just come out from a week in hospital. The last time she was in some loon took her off her water tablets… her legs swelled massively and they rushed her in (she’s normally built like a sparrow) and guess what…. They pumped her full of the drug they’d taken her off of. She’s a lot better now so, currently, we’re doing okay, thanks. Hope you’re keeping well too. Nice to hear from you.
