Pro(Se) Life

. The right to life concept, often presented as an alternative to pro-choice abortions, is inherently flawed and inconsistent. Since when does it make sense to value a person's birth but not the life she/he would lead after it? The idea of a 'right to life' implies that the life should be as free of pain and suffering as the parent is capable of providing for the child. If a person has the right to life, he also has the right to the means to live it. Yet far too many people are routinely born into either slavery or misery stricken dumps lacking basic necessities since their parents were never given the right to secure a safer position in the world for themselves or their child. The truth is it's not the right to the baby's life that's valued but the inherent murder it implies in whomever prevented it from living. By the time human beings absolutely understand that murder is wrong, including the right and/or need for the state to murder anyone for any reason whatsoever, the technology of birth control would have evolved with enough sophistication so that a woman could fully choose where and when she would raise a child with absolute certainty, thus making the need to murder the child completely unnecessary and so it will forever be gone from everyone's mind. *This is my opinion and nothing more.

The title is very cleverly thought, and the whole opinion is very reasonable, I guess every sort of opinion is like a gamble choice; thanks for sharing this, it was very enriching to watch things from another angle

I like this but I have to admit to being both pro choice and pro-life. For me the issue is the quality of life for the mother not a potential life that is mearly a collection of cells. You thinking is very close to those Malthusian environmentalists whose hatred for humanity conflicts with the fact that they are humans.

As you know, this topic has been debated for years. My religion teaches that abortion is wrong, but it shouldn't have to go that far. If effective means of contraception were made available to all, we wouldn't see so many children living in poverty. And, as my religion also dictates, I am with you 100 percent in your opposition to state-sanctioned murder of people in prisons. DNA has proved many of those executed were innocent. Even when guilty, it's hard to justify. Interesting...
