Pretending
Sitting on a stump of an old maple tree,
around me are ferns enjoying the breeze.
The birds in the trees are singing to me.
their's no one around I'm totally free.
The lies and the noise are now far away,
my mind is now calm to listen and pray.
Here in the woods it all feels so new,
no more pretending and being untrue.
I now feel at peace surrounded by trees.
No more acting and striving to please.
I can be who I am without an excuse.
I don't have to worry of being abused.
I can now feel that my spirit is clean.
My true self is wondering where I have been.
It wants to come out and wants to be seen,
Dare I take off my mask and let me be seen?
