Predictable Christmas
Predictable Christmas
I know no one’s coming.
Yet I put up a tree.
I can stare at it.
It can stare at me.
The lights in the bathroom?
I’ll put up again this year.
Quite likely l’ll shed
the same salty tear.
New Years, yesterday’s fears
Ring out the old. Ring in the same.
Each one is so predictable
that it refuses to change.
Christmas is for children, lovers,
families and the like.
Single, solitary souls will simply
pass the night.
