Prayers Are Answered a First Date Contest
All dressed up in white blouse and skirt of plaid
Shoes were old and scruffy that made me sad
Curly hair brushed with satin bow
Looked my best mum said, she should know
Waited near the door for his knock
Opened it quickly, what a shock
Scruffy shirt, trousers with a hole
Sure his feet were sticking out of the sole
After wiping his nose on his sleeve….with
A toothy smile on face said should we leave
Told me I was too posh for him
Rather go with Shirley he said with grin
“Do that” I cried with a nod
Promising to say 10 Hail Mary’s…. to thank God.
