Pray That Soon Will Come Better Days

PRAY THAT SOON WILL COME BETTER DAYS Soldiers on patrol- drones on radio control… They gain ground…as walls come crumbling down Fire streaks through the night- embers burn in daylight… They all lose their minds… watching innocents die Chorus Well I just don’t understand, what they’re fighting for After counting the lost lives, have they really WON the war? After all’s been said and done, and the sand’s blown away (You’ve got to) pray ... there will soon come better days See the mothers weep- their dead strewn on the street They mourn so forlorn, the day they were born The tears not only flow- but, they just grow and grow Where hope’s an absurd word that is rarely heard Chorus Well I just don’t understand, what they’re fighting for! After counting the lost lives, have they really WON the war? After all’s been said and done… and the sand’s blown away… (You’ve got to) pray ... there will soon come better days Running through their veins, ecstasy and cocaine, Thugs are so smug, selling them their drugs The mirror speaks so clear- the enemy’s still here Survivals chance is slim, as he looks back at him Chorus Well I just don’t understand, what they’re fighting for! After counting the lost lives, have they really WON the war? After all’s been said and done… and the sand’s blown away… (You’ve got to) pray... there will soon come better days (You’ve got to) pray... there will soon come better days John Derek Hamilton January 05,2019

Hi John, this is such a sad but honest song. Why, in this 21st century do we still have war. By now we should all be living in peace together. I think I should resign myself to the fact that there shall be no world peace in my lifetime. Everyone loses in a war. Your song sings the reality of war John. This is a definite fave. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Your friend always....Mike.

This captures the sorrow and horrors of war in words and a sad song that I believe I'll remember, John. *soupmail

I wish this wasn't true John, but the horrors of war are way too real. You have expressed this visceral scene brilliantly! xxoo

Thanks Connie, here there is an epidemic of suicide by soldiers with PTSD, often associated with drug abuse, so many things they go through are unspeakable.
