Pondering Time

I was just thinking
About one of the things Prison taught me.
Prison taught me how to understand
TIME.
Time is no more than a measure of distance
You start at point A
And you measure to point B
Whether you are measuring a minute or a lifetime
Even though day’s drag and days fly
The distance remains the same
Oddly enough when you go to Prison
Everything stops
But time
TICK---TICK---TICK
When you go in things are as they are
And in your mind they stay that way
As – the - years - pass - by
TICK---TICK---TICK
Outside
Everything still changes with the hands of time
But inside time has been frozen inside your mind
And when you’re released you start to understand
Time stops for no one
For the entire world has changed
If we break time down even further
Every one born has only so much time until they die
And no one knows exactly how much time that will be
One day your time will stop
And that day could be today
Make the most of your time
Embrace what time you have left
Don’t squander it away over petty things that don’t matter
Use it wisely cherishing the things that do
Don’t be a fool who thinks he has a lifetime
Be a wise man who knows he has only a minute
If even that
Because one day your time will
TICK---TIC
And all those left behind
Have nothing left of you
But the memories of how you spent your TIME!!

Another talented masterpiece!! You are a most talented artist. I cried when I read the comments you left on my poetry. No one has ever said such positive powerful words! In this moment..I actually feel...proud. Maybe there is still a chance for me; a chance to touch the hearts of many and make them really take time to see and feel life in a different kind of lite! Thank you so much, Michael. You made my night--even if you don't play professional basket ball!! HA!HA!

thank you for the encouraging words and thougths and prayers, like I say, even though things may seem to be bad at the present, they can always be worse, someone else has it worse that we think that we have it, but I do feel better and I have my faith to see me through, your writes always tell a story, and I always feel as if i am there, a very poignant write, take care always, Deneen

hi Michael, great write, and it rings so full of truth, time waits for no one and you can't go back in time to make changes, so we should do our best to make the most of our time, because once it's gone you can't recapture it, on another note I wish to thank you, from the bottom of my heart for those encouraging words, I am not one to have a pity party, but sometimes life can seem a bit overwhelming, and that's when people myself included shoud draw even closer to God for he is not unattainable

Michael, you have regained your salvation but more importantly you have realized that TIME is all that we can count on, TIME is an ever constant presence and TIME waits for no one. As always thank you for your support and encouraging words and I'm so glad that you're now making the most of whatever TIME you have left. love always, louise nelson

When this poem first began, it was a horrible reality of being in prison - a very well expressed warning. For life goes on outside, though while inside, the outside world stops for you. That is one very scary thought. The rest of your poem is something I live by. Let's face it, little children die of horrible diseases every day, what makes us so special that we should still even be here? I'm with you and count every moment of every day, a gift. Huge message from a very wise man. Love, Shar

I keep saying it over and over, Michael. You can teach so many others to appreciate the smaller things in life. Your experience, your difficulties are serving a purpose by helping others to see what is truly important. Great wisdom! Blessings ~ Carrie

yes MJ,the distance may remain the same, eventho,it is our individual x-factor(or unknown),but the dimension of space, and how we fill it,is whats truly important....time and space has always been a topic of philosophical debate....the mysteries of existence huh brudda....peace , jay
