Pockets Of Wealth: In my left a president not one by God sent In my right a congress, not one will ever confess In my back, left or right the same, day or night, could not tell a difference if only by sight could not tell by ear – though different appealing promises, both falsely speaking year after year can definitely tell by all they do, and not what they say – the same sulfur smell for all demagogues having one foot already in hell – a little grease here a little grease there throw a feast here throw a feast there... mindset far away from the needle's eye, from the camel and his desert~ elite tables' main focus that of more prime rib and succulent pheasant....

Hi Sally, first of all, thank you for having the guts to voice your opinion, in honest straight forward terms, without trying to be cute or insulting to intelligence like many comments I have read over the years on Soup. I respect you and your opinion. These are not the Republicans and the Democrats of our fathers. Though there are good on all sides who are true, God loving American Patriots!

I am from New York, like yourself. I am not naive when it comes to corruption. Pull the voting handle you get three lemons. I am nothing, not married to any party, though of Conservative leaning convictions. Gold toilets? Try and get a voice in any nation, without lots of financial support. Try and get a paycheck from someone without finances, unless it is a government paycheck which comes from The People, who worked long painful hours and paid their fair share of taxes.

Some people need assistance~ I have always given mine, much of my life spent working for and supporting the needs of those physically disabled, also worked to address the suffering in minority communities~ never took a paycheck for it. All volunteer. I know nothing of the Proud Boys, only what I read over the internet~ Who knows? Don't know what your son did on the sixth (my heart goes out to you)

– not one arrested on the sixth, that I am aware of, has been charged with so much as carrying a pea-shooter into the Capital building, – the only weapon used was by capital police to shoot down an unarmed woman. A veteran, who if anyone had the right to be there...it was the likes of her. Violence is not the way.

How many here advocating for the downtrodden of this world have actually put in 10 hr, unpaid-for days, to support such communities, as I have. For many years. Working nights to support myself. Little sleep. I do not advocate violence of any sort. Honestly don't know a conservative who does. If you do, advise them against it. It is wrong. If you know dishonest, conniving people of any party, tell them it is wrong. Just my opinion. For the little it may be worth.

Joe, i was raised in a widespread, deeply loving, mutually respectful family of the 2+ political parties that gathered x3 times each year for holiday feasts, sharing, worship AND always. Politcal “debate.” Politics has Never ever been “clean,” but to personally abandon the Assumption of mutual respect & patriotic alliegence be it of a like or differing view. Is not. I believe, to the roots of u.s.a. My father taught h.s. Civics, was a student of Hist.

Enlighten me Sally, you confuse me when you speak of minorities. My poem says nothing about minorities. Nor when I comment on thieves and murderers do I mention minorities in the same breath. I don't even entertain such a horrid thought in my mind. Sometimes one's statements less reflect those with whom they are debating, and more expose one's self-predilections.

himself & i learn, “the test of a democracy is how it treats its minorities…” Certainly Not to call them thieve & liars OR dumb losers! Yes, History will cast its lens back, but til that clearer-eyed time, we will be long dead & trying to explain to God why we could not “learn to love our ~enemies & think anything different is extreme. I wont go on. Just to add we’ve little doubt our own son was likely in D.C. with his guns on 1/6, because he himself is an accomplished liar, his whole life, tho my heart aches for him, & i think him ready to believe All life, excepting guns, is a lie. He believes the Promise Keepers, more than wife or anyone else…i personally think lobbyists are poision in D.C., as well as most self-promoters and people “of God” who have real gold toilet flush handles… still, a super political speak poem, Joe! 70 million Americans voted for Donald Trump. I cannot speak for all 70 million, but the neighbors, friends and relatives I know, who voted for him, almost all feel that the election was stolen, and that they were denied their constitutional right, that of helping to choose one's own government representatives, the hallmark of a Democratic Republic. These are not conspiracy theorist. These are hard working, tax paying, average citizens. What do we have now in Trump's stead? 200,000 US Citizens dead from fentanyl poisoning. Cities ravaged by theft and murder. And a war in Europe killing thousands of innocence. Take the blinders from your eyes. You are being lied to, made fools of.

This poem is not about, all people who hold public office being evil, and self-centered: nor it is about all Rich being evil (those who are, know who they are) (Musk is a perfect example of altruism and higher moral values being present in people who have acquired great wealth). This poem is about greed and selfishness. Abuse of power. Am I to assume that, all Canadians are bullies and potential dictators because of acts of Trudeau? Am I to assume that all Canadians are drug addicts and potential murderers because of the attack on Paul Pelosi by a Canadian?
