Politics

Politicians with all their tricks Disguising all their lies But they'll cater to the rich And we'll be left with sighs We hear empty promises once more and know it'll be the same as before We hope we wont get burned But we just never learn We are caught up in the game As we listen to their quotes Hoping for a change As we cast our vote 2-13-2024

How true are your words Joseph. They are all the same and so many go back on the promises that they pledged. Many fight for power for themselves and not their country! They forget that they are suppose to be serving its people. A great read and a wise one. Enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you :)

Your thoughts hold so much truth, Joseph. It's best not to get caught up in a web of lies. Like you and so many in the world, I'm looking for things to change. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

You certainly captured the reality of politics and politicians...frustrates me for sure. You're right, it does seem to be a game, and I'm merely an observer who hopes her vote will make a difference. Well said...great rhymes too.

Nice poem on the political racket, Joseph. Maybe if we stay away from them we won't get burned as bad?

Joseph, you have captured the pure essence of politics. But also, the core of a republic governed by democratic systems in your last lines - "hoping for a change/as we cast our vote." Voting is the ultimate privilege of citizenship! Far too many take this precious right for granted. If someone tells me they don't vote I always tell them they lose their right to complain! We aren't perfect but, in my eyes, no other country comes as close as we do to striving for that "perfect union." Thank you for these words. Blessings!
